A car helpsfor the trailheads

England is my home country, and I lived in Stratford-upon-Avon for years, right on the edge of the Cotswolds. So a lot of these guides come from weekends spent exploring on my doorstep, and the rest from walking boots, muddy hills and plenty of pub lunches.

Where Do I Start?

The UK has so much more than London. These are the areas I know best, most of them on foot.

The Cotswolds

I lived on the edge of the Cotswolds for years, so these villages were basically my weekends.

The Peak District

I’ve hiked all over the Peak District, in everything from summer sunshine to cold, foggy December days with absolutely no views.

Walks In Wales

Circular routes in the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia, from a Pen y Fan loop that avoids the crowds to the Pyg Track up Snowdon.

The Coast

Big chalk cliffs on the south coast and circular walks in North Devon.

Scotland & Stratford

The UK’s highest mountain, and a local’s guide to the town I used to call home.

Let’s Book Your Trip

The bookings I’d sort first for a UK trip. Trains are cheapest booked ahead, and the best Cotswolds hotels go early.

My Favourite UK Moments

Sunset At Broadway Tower

I’ve watched the sunset here more times than I can count, and we’d often spot deer in the park around the tower.

Winnats Pass

I couldn’t find a circular walk anywhere, so I set off following nothing more than my bearings. It’s one of our favourite spots in the Peak District.

The Seven Sisters

I walked the long route from Seaford to Eastbourne with my sister, and it was even more breathtaking than I expected. It took us about 7 hours with a packed-lunch stop and plenty of breaks.
